Maybe you saw a TV ad or your friends have one or your kids want one. Everyone knows what the Wii is now. But do you really want to spend your money getting one?
Short answer: Be prepared with spending $500 plus on what you want and/or need.Â
Long answer: Let's do some math here. The Wii console itself costs $250. That comes with what you need to have only one person ready to play. That does come with Wii sports, so you at least get a free game with it.  Now, you probably know that you can't just play the Wii alone! The whole gimmick behind the Wii is playing with your friends and family and having Wii parties. A Wii remote controller alone is going to cost you $40 for one piece. To have the other piece called the nunchuck (which goes in the other hand) will cost you $20. That is $60 per additional person! To have 4 people will cost you $180 extra on top of the $250 you spent for the system alone.
At the time of this writing there is also what they call the Wii Motion Plus.  Basically what this attachment does is makes your Wii pick up your motion in a 1:1 ratio, or 100% motion sensitive. This accessory should be free for anyone who wants it, but being the money hungry company that we know Nintendo is, they of course are charging another $20 per controller! That's another $80 dollar investment for 4 controllers.Â
That all adds up to $510 before applicable tax.
Then, once you get all the accessories you need... There are the games! Most new games cost between $39.99 and $49.99.
If this is still something you want and are prepared to spend that much money then by all means head down to your local retail store and have you a Wii remote waggling good time. A lot of people are unaware of the major money investment behind the Wii since it was supposed to be the "cheaper system."
