For many, the name iPod is equivalent of "MP3 player". Many don't know that an iPod is just one of the many music or video players available on the market. Thanks to their incredible market strategies, Steve Job's folks from Apple managed to achieve this.
With these in mind, it's no wonder iPods are the most popular and best sold players worldwide. Hundreds of millions have been sold since the first entered the market, more than 10 years ago. However, even though they are so popular, there are better options and for sure cheaper ones.
It's not that the iPod are not good enough: they provide high quality both in terms of features and especially in terms of looks. Because like any other Apple products, iPod have always been astonishing and amazed with their innovations. Names like the iPod Mini, the Shuffle, the high storage capacity iPod Classic, the tiny Shuffle or the modern Touch are just examples.
 However, Apple products are expensive and while exceeding in some ways, severally lack some parts in others. For instance, most iPod don't have a radio receiver, not even the top of the lines. Also, most don't have Bluetooth and even if they have, they can't be used with a pair of external headphones. And limitations list could go along. They won't interfere with the main functions of video/music playing, but all these tiny features added together make for quite a loss. Especially if you consider that iPods usually cost around 30 to 50 more than the standard players made by iRiver, Samsung, Creative, etc.
Also, iPod are quite fragile, and since you pay a lot for them, it would be smart to protect them and take care of them. And how you can do this better if not by using some high quality iPod cases and protection accessories. They come in various forms and shapes, from the invisible thin film protectors for screens to bulky silicone guard cases that will protect the device from drops and shocks. Prices vary according to brand and material. You can find cheap cases for a couple of bucks, but I wouldn't recommend buying any of those. Better spend 10 to 30 bucks and get something from Griffin, Belkin or other known accessories producers.
