Mario Kart Wii is finally here. They will buy it all at the same time, separated by distance but united by the same desire to be on the net benefit for all parties online. They do not know, but these players here are all affected by the same virus. A terribly contagious virus called Mario Kart and who do you let go once it has grabbed you. On screen, the start is given on a course which, from the first few seconds, took on the appearance of Apocalypse. Precisely because the series defies logic that it attracts all types of players, whatever their age and experience. Mario Kart Wii is no exception to the rule, rather the contrary. And steering wheel that accompanies it is just there to finally convince the hesitant buyer that must not ignore this.
We will not hide it, play Mario Kart with a plastic steering wheel is probably the height of absurdity, but it did not stand. Offered directly with the game, the Wii Wheel is certainly a piece of plastic as dispensable as the other Wii accessories, but it constitutes an interesting bonus in that it brings new feelings to the game's delicate control, the device makes a little difference but it is nevertheless very fun to maneuver. It is however for the parties without issue, just as we do for fun without really worrying about the ranking. Keep a car driving to drive a kart is not a natural reflex for a long time practicing, and you can bet that purists will prefer him by far the grip with the classic controller. Equally accurate but much easier to control, it is indeed more appropriate. Whether it's a Wii Classic Controller, a GameCube pad or the combo Wiimote/Nunchuk, this more conventional use has the advantage of benefiting from the input buttons, triggers and analog stick, which is essential for the majority of followers of the series. As for the Wiimote held sideways only, it is simply to play the same way as the steering wheel.
We are beginning to understand the technical possibilities of the Wii, and the achievement is neither disappointing nor dazzling, but it is true that the trend is not evident in relation to the GameCube episode. Although excellent, the gameplay takes the party to change the system of excesses in order to make themselves more accessible to everyone. Result, the mini-turbo can only be optimized with the karts and the "snake" will disappear altogether. Skidding machines are absolutely forbidden.
Drivers, vehicles and races to unlock bonus to a trickle, and many other surprises to discover are progressing in the game to the 32 Grand Prix circuits (and the same Mirror mode) added parties split screen up to 4 players, fighting to arenas, but the competition online via Wi-Fi Connection. It was fun to find the topics of retro circuits remixed for the occasion, but the new are not overly significant. The diversity of characters screaming strongly contributes to the crazy atmosphere of Mario Kart Wii.
Succeeded at all levels, Mario Kart Wii is not revolutionary but it has everything to become the darling of fans of the series. Changes in the gameplay are there to expand the heart to target a new audience, including the ability to control a steering wheel. But regulars also will find them, if only for online competitions and renewal provided by the steering motor. More difficult than the last parts of the series, Mario Kart Wii has a challenge worthy of the name and is one of the best exclusives on the console.
The game has topped the Nintendo Wii charts since release last year, and its still proving hard to find in stock. Compare Mario Kart Wii in stock prices
