In the days of great left hand guitar players like Jimi Hendrix and Tony Iommi, left handed electric guitars were hard to come by. These two players had two different methods of playing lefty; Hendrix played a right handed Fender Stratocaster with the strings reversed and Iommi actually had a true left hand Jaydee Custom SG.
These days, left hand players have a wide selection of left handed electric guitars at their disposal. All of the major guitar manufacturers now offer their most popular models in a left hand orientation. The only problem is - left hand guitars may not be available in most music shops. Choose from Gibson, Fender, Jackson, Razorbacks and Ibanez among others.
Gibson Guitars
Gibson has always made a quality instrument. Probably the most popular one is the Les Paul and it's close cousin, the SG. Each is available in a variety of constructions, materials and colors. All of these Gibson guitars are offered as a left handed electric guitar. From maple to Ebony, rosewood to teak and bolt on to neck through, Gibson has a lefty axe for you.
One thing you can always count on is quality of sound from Gibson. Their workmanship and attention to the player is evident on every instrument that comes off the line. As a result, the name of Gibson is synonymous with great sound and status among players.
Another maker of fine guitars is Fender. Who hasn't heard of the legendary Stratocaster, Telecaster and Jaguar guitars? Another brand name that just oozes quality, Fender does offer the left hand player a chance to play ANY Fender model as a lefty. You don't need to flip a righty guitar over and re-string it like Hendrix did. You can play true Fender left handed electric guitars.
Jackson Electric
Then there is Jackson guitars. When you think of Jackson guitars, the first name that pops in your mind is Randy Rhoads, God rest his soul. Randy took lead technique to a whole new level as Ozzy Osbourne's lead guitarist and he played ONLY Jackson instruments. The trademark eclectic "V" shape is unmistakable.
Now Jackson offers two Rhoads signature models as well as a Dinky and two Soloist models as left hand electric guitars. So whatever your genre, you can play Jackson left hand electric guitars.
Ibanez
There is one more quality left hand electric guitar maker and that is Ibanez. Not many folks know this but Ibanez is the choice of electric guitar virtuoso Steve Vai. His signature Jem series is a customized model with each one specifically crafted with Vai's specs. The result is a versatile tone factory.
Now leftys can enjoy the power of playing like Steve Vai. The Ibanez Jem7VL is the first ever lefty Jem. Ibanez also offers several other left handed electric guitars for the southpaw player like the RG1550L and GRX20L.
Most of these can be found at http://www.lefthandedguitarmall.com. Stop by and see the selection of left handed electric guitars offered. They know what you need as a left hand player and strive to supply you with it.
