Project Gotham Racing

Do many people play Project Gotham Racing 4 on Xbox Live now?

I have PGR3, but it seems that no one plays it online. I hate getting an Xbox game only to find out that no one plays it after an extended time. No one plays Robotron 2084, but thousands play Halo 3 over a year after its release.

There is actually people playing part 4 still. The reason why not a lot of people play part 3 is because they rather be playing the the newer version (the sequel) which is PGR4. I still play PGR4 on Xbox Live and have no problem finding matches.
You obviously are not going to find as many people as there is playing Halo 3 because we all know Halo 3 is a lot more popular than PGR4 but do expect to find matches when you play PGR4 on Xbox Live.
I love the game, is my current racing favorite.

More motorsport madness on the 360.

Racing titles are not in short supply for the Xbox 360. Forza Motorsport 2, Race Driver GriD, Sega Rally, Colin McRae DiRT, Project Gotham Racing, Ridge Racer 6, Test Drive Unlimited, Pure, Burnout Paradise and Need for Speed: Undercover are all available for you to enjoy on your favorite console.

The majority of those titles are arcade orientated, meaning that realism is thrown out the window for fantasy racing. Race Pro ventures in the opposite direction, a direction that is very tricky to master and has only been perfected by Forza Motorsport and Gran Turismo on console.

Race Pro has some big shoes to fill. Developing a racer to merge with other racer simulation titles means that comparisons are drawn on anything that isn't exactly correct. Cars must handle like they do in real life and the visual details, with the power of current consoles, are scrutinized if not entirely accurate. Seeing that the developers make a success of those bits, customization of gear ratios, tire compounds and engine modification, to name a few, will be next on the list for simulation critics to loathe or admire. Race Pro is not exactly a master of all the above-mentioned simulation criteria, but it is a Jack-of-all-trades.

If you're anything like us, you will skip the Single Race Mode and jump right into the more beefy Career Mode. Career Mode follows a similar route to previous Toca Touring Car racers, where you have to buy a contract to become a race driver and earn credits to buy other contracts, upgrading the level of cars you race as you make your way up the ladder.

Once you have bought your first contract (which forces you to drive a Mini Cooper), it is on to the racetrack. The lights go out, you fly past all competitors from your grid position (right at the back), and leave them in your dust... well, until the first corner approaches. Inevitably you will hit your brakes too late, drive off the road and go over the gravel, ending up in last place for the remainder of the race. It is very, very difficult, simply because it's so realistic. Has Race Pro gone a bit far with simulation? Is it actually still a game?

After the first corner we were ready to pack the game up and call it a day. Arcade racer games have made us far too lazy to practice and get good at anything. We want to be spoon-fed. But we gritted our teeth and selected the restart option. Having dealt with the blow to our egos, we tackled the game.

Once the event, comprising three races, has been concluded you are awarded credits to purchase your next contract. There are 13 real-life tracks to race on including Monza and Laguna Seca, a stunning 350 car models - ranging from Audis to Formula 3000 vehicles - and 12-player (online or systemlink) multiplayer games. Like all simulations, everything is done realistically, but unfortunately the visual department fails miserably.

When comparing Race Pro to Forza Motorsport 2, it seems that Race Pro missed an event in the genre that took place two years ago. Car models look decent but not great, the tracks are realistic but have been done before, and the handling is respectable but not perfect - as we now expect from a simulation. Everything is in place, but it lacks currency - it's all old news.

Deep inside this package, there is a game that wants to shine, but it wants you to suffer before you enjoy it, and is similar to F-Zero GX when it comes to the difficulty curve. Race Pro is a respectable add-on to your collection of racers and it's probably a good idea to pick this up if you have been dying for another simulation.

It was like a scene from wrestlemania in my bedroom last night. Don't get excited. Not that kind of wrestling. There were no slippery-limbed scufflings. No wild gropings of wobbly bits wrapped in Lycra or PVC. And no time-calling, ding-ding girls in micro minis and heels. Even worse, there was no ref. So it's not surprising things fell a bit foul.

Round One - 11.50pm. I get home and he's already in bed. 'Baby, you're here' I say, stunned into stating the obvious. 'I've been phoning and phoning, why didn't you answer?' 'Been sleeping,' he says, eyes closed, head motionless on the pillow. 'Oh,' I say. 'I thought you were still at Rob's - when did you get back?' 'Dunno. An hour ago maybe.' 'Well why didn't you call when you left?' 'Dunno,' he says, eyes still closed. 'Suppose I assumed you'd already be home by, like, 11 on a Monday night.'

He turns over, turns his back to me. The conversation is over. Clearly. His breathing slows and rises to an almost-snore. I make a 'humph' sound, turn and flounce to the bathroom to brush my teeth. Unfortunately, my reaction is wasted. He's too far gone to see that I'm still peeved.

Sigh. Welcome to the weirdest, wildest, crapiest kind of wrestling around. The he-said, she-said, dung-slinging slugfest that only happens within the ring of a long-term relationship. It's a battleground, really. A blood sport. A joke. Why? Because men and women just aren't natural opponents.

Why do you think wars are waged by guys and catfights by girls? Because men like a fast fight followed by an even faster flight (and, in battle if not in bed, bigger is better if you want to get it over with quickly). Women, on the other hand, prefer an unhurried hissing fit and a slow, acerbic scratching out of eyes. Maybe that's why well-evolved men employ the subtle art of avoidance. Just like my man is doing right now.

That's so typical, I fume to my reflection. He just turned over and went to sleep. Won't even stand up and fight like a man. Especially when he's obviously in the wrong and there's so much to talk about. I'm foaming at the mouth now, and it's not just the toothpaste. In fact, I'm limbering up for the long haul.

Round Two - 11.59pm. In the bedroom. 'Baby?' I say loudly. 'Are you sleeping?' 'Sssh,' he says, face scrunched in apparent pain. 'No, I'm not really sleeping. Just playing dead so you'll go off and hunt someone else.' 'Okay, seriously,' I say, eyebrow raised, hands on hips. 'Weren't you worried when you got back and I wasn't home at, like, 11 on a Monday night?' 'Dunno,' he says, opening an eye. 'I thought you were at your sister's.' 'I was. But what if I wasn't?' 'But you were.' 'But what if something had happened to me - a woman driving alone on these treacherous roads.

You just got home and blithely went to sleep without caring - just like you're blithely going to sleep now.' 'I'm not,' he says, eyes closed again. 'You are.' 'Hang on,' he sits bolt upright. 'Were you or were you not at your sister?' 'Yes, I was, but...' 'And where does your sister live?' 'Down the road, but...' 'And do you, in fact, have a mobile phone?' 'Yes, but...' 'So you could have called me, right?' 'Um... I suppose, but...' 'Is that a yes?' 'Um... well, yes.' 'Thank you. And good night.' Sigh. Maybe men live by the old adage, 'He who fights and runs away lives to fight another day'. Or maybe they're just wusses. I don't know. Either way, you'll never see a real male-female face-off in the good, old grunt-fuelled WWE. No, not because she would get pulverized to a pulp, but rather because he wouldn't have the stamina for her kind of scrap.

Anyway, lucky for me my man's better at avoiding than I am at fighting. Perhaps that's why we spend more time loving than we do lunging for each other's throats. Plus, we have way more time and energy for other things. Like sleeping. And that other kind of wrestling.

Project Gotham Racing 3 - what do you think?

I've just asked a similar question about Grand Theft Auto 4 - my boyfriend's birthday is coming up and I want to get him a really good xb360 game. What are your thoughts on Project Gotham? Is it any good, can you play eachother online and what are they graphics like? Is this the game that if you crash your car it actually shows the crash marks etc on the car? I really have no idea on games so any help much appreciated!

I don't believe PGR3 has damage (i'd have to jump on the game and check) I could be wrong though.
You can indeed play it online, and graphics are very nice. (IMO)
Another good choice (if he likes sim Racers and doesn't already have it) is Forza Motorsport 2. It should be about 40$. You can fully customize your car (Bodykits, engine parts, even paint it how you want) And there is physical damage (the bumpers even fall off the car) You can play online with up to 7 friends (8 ppl total). The game features over 300 Real life cars, and about 20+ Real life tracks (save the test track tracks)

Should i get Killzone 2 Or Fight night round 4?

Ok so they both have online whicth i like.They are both two diffrent types of games.I already know Kill zone 2 has alot of people online but does fight night round 4 has some people only how much?Whicth one is better not by rateings on IGN or anything.Whicth is a game i could be playing longer and just overall a funner game?

Killzone 2, as Fight Night Round 4 is always going to be the exact same thing. 2 people fighting in the ring, and even the multiplayer is just 1v1's. If you don't like repeating the same thing over and over, Get Killzone.
Usually the players who play Fight Night online, can usually dominate, so would lead to a boring multiplayer where you always lose.

Killzone will be funner, especially with the amazing multiplayer.

If you've never taken self defense lessons, I will teach you the self defense training you should know in order to prevent an attack or come out of a fight triumphant.

How to fight back against someone bigger #1 - Constantly be aware of your surroundings. If you happen to be distracted in a dark, empty space, or if you're traipsing through a wooded area while listening to music, you are more likely to be attacked. You'll be more likely to be attacked if you don't have the use of all your senses.

How to fight back against someone bigger#2 - Most people already know this, but the majority of attackers are men. By using any method you can, you should attack the groin region of a man. Twist, stomp, kick, punch, hit or bite. If you exert any sort of force, it will cause a great deal of pain.
