RDRAM stands for Rambus Dynamic Random Access Memory, and it was one of the leading forms of RAM on the market during the late 90s and early 2000s. Developed in the late 1990s, the first computers to use RDRAM didn't come out until 1999. However, it was on the market as early as 1996, and the extremely high memory-to-cost ratio of RDRAM led Nintendo to use it in their Nintendo 64 console. Sony also saw the value in RDRAM, and it was chosen for the Sony Playstation 2 console for its cost and volume.

RDRAM is considered to be high quality and generally well manufactured. However, it's design is meant to optimize cost, and as such it has a tendency to run hot. Gamers who owned Nintendo 64 or Playstation 2 consoles often complained of the heat produced by these chips, and many of the early Playstation 2's were prone to heat-caused motherboard failure due to inadequate ventilation and fan power, something Sony addressed in later versions of the console. This was not a problem for the Nintendo 64, since the Nintendo 64 did not use a CD-ROM for games. Thus, there was no CD-ROM drive to add heat and block the flow of air through the console.

RDRAM is also known to have significant latency problems due to its design. Additionally, motherboards which can accommodate more RDRAM but do not have all of their slots filled must have a spacer installed to permit the data to flow properly. As such, most pre-assembled computers that use RDRAM already have all available slots filled.

For these reasons, RDRAM was not widely adapted outside of budget computers. It was widely used in computers built by GateWay and Dell, however, especially simple models for those who are not technically inclined. It was thought that the shortcomings of RDRAM would not matter to users who rarely (if ever) upgrade their hardware, and are very concerned with the price of their computer. This necessitated large and energy-consumptive fans in these units, but since these computers were largely disposable, overheating concerns were largely ignored. This led to certain models with certain motherboards to gain a reputation for heat damage, especially when inexperienced users failed to give them adequate ventilation.

RDRAM was not widely adopted, and in 2004 it was revealed that the many companies which produced RDRAM's primary competitor, SDRAM, had colluded to control price and keep RDRAM off the market. Though the US Department of Justice awarded a large settlement to the Rambus company, RDRAM had already been effectively shut out of the market, and very few machines were capable of supporting it. Even at its peak, RDRAM was never supported on more than 5% of motherboards, and most of them were low-market models.

RDRAM is still produced, however only specific motherboards are capable of supporting it. Still, unlike SDRAM, RDRAM is very profitable to produce, though it is now more expensive than it's SDRAM competitor. It retains its supporters, and some hardware enthusiasts insist that it is the finest RAM on the market today, even though it is only made by a few specialty producers. Because of low demand, RDRAM is sold almost exclusively on the internet, although some hardware specialty stores still carry it.

I love my PSP, and you marry it if it would show some more emotion, but for entertainment, cuddling, romantic times etc, I've had it all with my PSP, and if you own a PSP, then so have you.

However, without a decent memory card, you are limiting yourself. PSP has many capabilities, and with a large memory card(4GB, 8GB and above) you can ditch your mp3 player, and even an mp4 player if you have one, as the PSP will take care of your (almost) every need!

Women and PSPs are alike in many ways. Both (hopefully) sexy, entertaining, good for romance(...I tend to get carried away with my Playstation Portable). To unlock some of the hidden potential, you must fork out some cash on your lady(on jewellery, or a hotel break etc.) and similarly on your PSP(a decent sized memory card).

*Putting an end to that horrible analogy now!*

Without a decent sized Pro Duo card, you are limiting yourself. PSP has many capabilities, and with a large capacity(4GB, 8GB and above) you can ditch your mp3 player, and even an mp4 player if you have one, as the PSP will take care of your (almost) every need! If you're a pirate(curse you!) a memory card of at least a few gigs is essential.

Unfortunately, the price of Pro duo cards has not lowered as much as the more commonly used memory cards such as micro SD, or SD, so now your left with the dilemma, you want a big reliable memory card for your PSP, but don't fancy the price tag!

You can do what I did, and purchase cheap cards online. The lesson I learnt from this was if something seems too good to be true, then it probably is. Here are the main reasons why you should be cautious before handing over money for a cheap memory card:

-Cheap(/fake) memory cards can suffer from numerous problems. Firstly, although they may be labelled as being genuine Sony or SanDisk cards, they will on average have a lower build quality then their authentic counterparts.

-Another problem that arises is the fake memory card may not have the advertised capacity. Even if your "8GB" card comes up on your PC as having 7.67GB free, if may only be able to hold 4 GB of data before it complains that it is full.

-The final main problem associated with fake cards is that the read and write speeds will be unbearably slow. Too slow to play demos / backups. Not to mention you can have your dinner in the time it takes to copy an album onto it!

Although there are legimate cheap PSP cards on the net, my advice would be as follows:

Purchase a micro SD to Pro Duo adapter, and purchase a micro SD card of the desired size locally, in a trusted shop. Chances are it will be considerably cheaper than an actual Pro Duo card of that same size!

They will most certainly be of decent build quality, have decent read and write speeds, and also, will have the advertised capacity, which is always good!

Many great tips to make and save cash!

Although there are many offers around the Internet that can be found at such websites such as YouTube, Google Video and more, one should be careful to take into account that getting a free PS3 or any other device for free involves giving out personal information across the Internet. Although, many of the hardcore PS3 fans out there will practically do anything they can to get a free Playstation 3 in their possession. Many individuals would jump at the fact to participate in any type of program to get a Playstation 3 delivered to the door, but take into consideration that a free PS3 is not as easy to get “at no cost” as it may seem.

Many websites that giveaway a free Playstation 3 often want you to either sign up for a particular third party company (such as Blockbuster video) that require you to either purchase something from them directly, or begin a free trial account and leaving behind your credit card number. While some companies seem trustworthy and noticeable, it should be considered that anyone wanting to sign up for these companies just for the chance to get a free Playstation 3 be very cautious as the last thing anyone wants is to have their privacy exposed across the Internet.

The second method involves referring others to the free PS3 giveaway websites where they are also required to participate into one of the third party company programs. As there are a certain required amount of referrals that need to sign up, donÂ’t expect to have your free Playstation 3 system in your hands by the end of next week. Your referrals must participate in a program and must pass through it in order for them to be counted as a qualified referral. Once you have completed a successful free PS3 giveaway program and you have attained the appropriate number of qualified referrals, then you are well on your way to getting a free Playstation 3 sent out to you.

Free Playstation 3 giveaway websites will use this tactic to help promote other advertisers by getting those guaranteed purchasers or participators. What needs to be done here for anyone looking to get a free Playstation 3 is that they should really do a background check on the advertisers they are looking to participate with. Regardless of reputable companies, the last thing anyone would want to have happen is having their credit card number and personal information fall into the wrong hands.

There is no doubt that many hardcore PS3 fans would love to have a free Playstation 3 that averages $600 or more in their possession at a much lesser cost: The cost of a website giveaway promotion and collecting referrals. In the long run, it can be considered an excellent trade between an advertiserÂ’s program and getting a free Playstation 3, but the best reward of all is being able to get a free PS3 without having your personal privacy at risk.

Brad Johnson is the founder of his own Playstation 3 resource website where visitors can view videos, articles, giveaways and more involving Playstation 3. Check out BradÂ’s free Playstation 3 website at http://www.ps3-unlimited.com
