3. Take out the gray plastic covers on either end of the Xbox 360. Use your flathead screwdriver or paperclip and slot it into the vent holes on both the white sides of the console (black if you have an elite). There are 10 holes in all where working the screwdriver a bit will lift up the gray covers.

4. Separate the two sides of the Xbox. Again use the flathead screwdriver to push into 6 different 'buttons' on the back of the Xbox 360, which click loudly if you do this right, and this will start to separate the two sides. On the front of the Xbox 360, there will be 4 catches, which you can use the screwdriver or your fingernails to lift up and this will let you to take off one side of the Xbox completely.

5. Unscrew all the screws on the metal casing. Use the T8 and T10 Torx screwdrivers to unscrew all of the screws on the metal part of the Xbox, which you will be able to see after taking off the first half of the consoles covers.

6. Remove the button that opens the disk drive. The button is attached to the console by a thin plastic plate. Simply lift this up and off.

7. Now you will be able to remove the second half of the cover. This will come off easily after taking out the screws and disk drive button.
