Oh no, it happened, you have become victim to the Xbox 360's dreaded E74 Error. Well don't worry my friend, in this article I am going to show you exactly how you can fix the E74 Error without shipping off your system for two months.

The first way to fix this error is actually really quite simple, it may just be your AV cable. The first thing that you can try is to unplug the AV cable and blow out any dust that may be built up in the connections. Then try hooking it back up and turning it on.

If you are still facing the error than try getting a new AV cable, or you can borrow one from a friend so that you don't buy a new cable if this is not the solution either. Once you have the new AV cable, plug it in, fire up your Xbox 360 and if the error is still occurring then you will have to move on to the next method of fixing the E74 Error.

If the AV cable didn't work then you are going to have to move on to a little bit of a more complex method to fix the error. It can still be fixed but the methods can't be explained in a single article.

You can find Xbox 360 repair guides on the Internet that have very detailed instructions on how to fix the E74 error as well as other errors like freezing, the no video problem and the red ring of death. These guides usually come with very detailed step-by-step instructions. The better guides will also include pictures and videos of the process so you can be sure that you will understand each step of the repair.

So if you have experienced the Xbox 360 E74 Error, it is not the end of your gaming days, you can fix it. Hopefully it is just your AV cable but if not there is still a solution out there if you are willing to do a little more research.

Ever since Top Gun hit the cinema screens in 1986, manning the cockpit of a fighter jet has been the fantasy choice of adrenaline junkies. Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X hopes to emulate the movie's spectacular dog fights and knock Ace Combat from its perch to become the fight and flight sim of choice. Some readers might find that last sentence a bit confusing. Ace Combat is by no means a simulation, but it is the only aerial combat game that has any credibility left on consoles.

H.A.W.X is an aerial combat game that strikes a clever balance between sim-like realism and arcade thrills. Players take part in anti-terror missions, including reconnaissance and dogfights over real-world locations, stunningly recreated using satellite imagery. Pilots can switch viewpoints at any time to enable greater maneuverability or combat accuracy, catering for casual and hardcore veterans alike. Missions begin with the camera hanging a short distance from the back of the craft, After Burner-style. In this mode a HUD aids fight and flight with radars, advanced warning systems and input from your wingman.

A handy intercept mode opens gateways that, if flown through, will line up an enemy in the jet's sight. The same method is also used for evading missiles, which is a nice added benefit. The second viewpoint opens up a more oblique camera angle that does away with the screen furniture, enabling fancy flying better suited to a maelstrom of missiles being fired your way, while releasing your inner daredevil and losing weapon accuracy.

As you play through the missions, you get points for accuracy and time that help you level up. With this RPG element thrown into the mix, you really need to perform in missions to unlock new planes, maps and weapons, as leveling up is the only way to open new items. Having said that, the extra weapons you acquire have some great-looking effects but they don't do much more than your standard original weapons did in the first place. You can complete any mission from beginning to end with the same set of weapons, which makes your hard work at leveling up a bit pointless... except for those extra maps and planes.

What else, you ask? Up to four players can play the campaign mode in co-op. Online dogfights have been done numerous times before, but never with an online campaign mode. It is an amazing feeling gliding through the air with your buddy (or buddies) by your side and does add some humor to a slightly boring campaign. Should you be unlucky enough to have no social life, and therefore don't have any mates, EndWar-like voice commands are available for you to shout strategic commands to your wingmen.

Visually this game is spectacular, but swoop down to take out tanks and everything gets a bit blurry. Most of your fighting will take place high up in the sky, so it is not something you will have to engage all that often. The stars of the game, the 50 playable planes, all look superb with particle effects - shooting missiles from them looks as realistic as you're going to get. Talking about missiles, add a 5.1 surround sound set-up to the mix and it feels as if the missile is blasting away from your couch into the screen (if you use the cockpit camera).

Unfortunately, H.A.W.X is a victim of the high standards set by other Tom Clancy games. Most Tom Clancy games are lots of fun to play and the word 'boring' has no place in reviews. It was a great idea to launch another flight-sim into the industry, but it just needs a bit of polishing, a longer campaign and less RPG elements - then Ace Combat will have a flight-sim to be terrified of.

Starting any new hobby always brings a sense of anticipation and Model Railroading is no exception. Once they have been to a train show, or have simply seen a model train layout displayed somewhere, many people become excited by the possibility of operating their own train setup. This excitement often leads to a sense of being overwhelmed and sometimes sticker shock, after visiting a hobby store and looking at the huge array of model railroad supplies available and the wide range of prices.

Well, it doesn't have to be overwhelming and it doesn't take a fortune to get started with model trains. The simplest layouts consist of a small oval track and an locomotive with a few cars. It can be set up on the floor, a simple table, or even an old door or piece of plywood on two saw horses! Often when you talk to experienced hobbyists, they talk about the need for a strong custom bench and lots of room to set up your layout, but don't let that stop you from getting started. You can graduate to a more complex and expensive setup as you get more involved in railroading. As a beginner, you may not even know in what areas you are most interested. Do you enjoy the different locomotives and rolling stock which comprise your trains, or do you prefer building the scenery and making the miniatures look realistic? Maybe you prefer wiring the electrical control parts of the track or configuring the software to work to your liking. One of the best things about model railroading is the wide range of skills that you can learn and put to use. There is something for almost everyone to enjoy.

The other nice thing about this hobby is that you can do as much or as little of it yourself as you like. Some of the most popular model railroad supplies are kits for just about every aspect from trains to tables to scenery, to electrical wiring and software. These range from simple all inclusive starter kits to kits for individual parts designed for the more advanced modeler. You can buy train and scenery kits separately or kits that include both. The kits themselves can be either completely finished and ready to set up and run, or do it yourself kits that require more complex construction, painting and assembly. Once again, it is easy to get started with a simpler kit and upgrade to something more complex as your needs dictate, and budget allows. These kits also vary in price and complexity depending on the scale or gauge with which you decide work.

Starter train kits can be purchased for as little as $80 or $90 but most will want one of the kits in the $200 range. These train kits can be specific to an industry or a type of train, steam or diesel for example. Starter kits typically come with a 4' by 3' oval track, a locomotive, several cars and a simple transformer and controller.

Scenery kits, building kits and layout kits vary widely depending on the components and how much do it yourself work you want to do. A building kit for a simple small town with 15 buildings can be purchase for about $160. Layout kits, which provide the base for your layout including materials for hills, valleys and tunnels start at about $250. Scenery kits which contain materials for trees, grass, rocks, etc. start at about $65. Each of these can be purchased individually as the need arises.

Software for model trains starts at as little as $20 for simulation software, and layout controllers at about $200 but you don't have to have either of these for your first train setup.

Any of these model railroad supplies can be purchased at your local hobby store. Hobby shops are usually very helpful because they want you to keep coming back. They can provide a hands-on experience and the chance to talk to others who know what it is like when you are just getting started. They can often help you avoid common beginner's mistakes that they have already made. These items can also be found at local model railroad shows and conventions.

You may also find these items locally advertised or at yard or garage sales or auctions. All model railroaders were once beginners and you can often find bargains on trains from the hobbyist who is ready to trade-up. Be sure to do your research before buying from these sources so that you know the value of what is being offered.

As you can see, you can easily get started with the model railroad hobby on almost any budget. One of the great things about this hobby is that you can get involved as deeply, or as little as you like. You can begin with a simple kit and advance in whatever direction your interest takes you. Some hobbyists never make their own scenery, preferring to enjoy simply running their trains, while others get involved in every detail down to making their own coal and logs and plants!
