A broken Windows doesn't mean that you can't recover your lost data or files on your hard drive. But first you must understand the importance of the 3 boot files your Windows OS, because attempting to clear space on your hard drive may accidentally delete some of your files.

Boot.ini, NTLDR and ntdetect.com are the three boot files in older Windows operating system that may cause errors next time your computer restarts if they are accidentally deleted or become corrupted.

This problem can be solved and at the same time your data or files will be recovered in the process. By using the right procedure, your computer can return to its original state even without the help of a technician. Also there free data recovery tools out there that can make things easier for you.

Using the repair console, you can recover your hard drive data, the Windows XP operating system's installation CDROM is a boot device, you can use it to reboot your computer and the entire repair console is displayed. The procedure can recover your lost data for the following errors displayed when trying to boot your PC.

* Missing or corrupted boot file

* Fatal error reading boot.ini

* Missing NTLDR

If any of the errors above are shown during your computer boot, the hard drive hasn't crashed. Rather, the boot files are just corrupted and needs to be replaced using the Microsoft's installation CDROM. Once you have done this, the lost data on your hard drive will be restored and there will be no information lost.

First is to ensure that you have the proper version of windows inserted in the CDROM, monitor the boot process for some requires pressing some keys during the boot process. If you have been successful, a blue Windows installation screen will appear. You will be given two choices, one is the complete reinstallation of OS and the other is repair console. Choose repair console by pressing "R" key to start the hard drive data recovery.

All you have to do is follow the repair instructions given by the repair console, it will just take a few minutes to recover lost data and files. But take note that if the process fails, your hard drive might be broken, so for an alternative you can try to borrow other hard drive or purchase a new one. But the task may require a technician if you don't know much about troubleshooting.

How to Protect your Wireless Network

Having a home wireless network means that you can say goodbye to ethernet cables forever and turn every room into your office. But if you donÂ’t have the right security half your neighbours could end up poaching your broadband.

Protecting your network is essential if you want to keep your broadband fast, private and hacker-free.

There are a few ways to protect yourself and there are also different levels of security, from basic to the more advanced. But once these settings have been saved you will be safe and secure and ready to log on wherever you are.

Wireless encryption

To protect yourself from hackers you need to set up a WEP or WPA Personal (WPA-PSK) key.

  • WEP is a simple 64 or 128Bit encryption but offers limited security and is relatively easy to break
  • WPA-PSK, in the forms of WPA-TKIP which offers better security and is backwards compatible with older routers and USB keys, and WPA2-AES which offers the best security and better wireless performance but which is not compatible with all older hardware

You can set up your encryption key when setting up your wireless router, and there should be an explanation of how to do so in your instruction manual.

Internet security

In addition to having an encryption key, you also need to install a few other things:

  • A firewall
  • Anti-virus software
  • Anti-spyware software
  • Anti-phishing software

You also need to ensure that any software that you have installed is always up-to-date. Hackers are continually updating their methods and developing new viruses so make sure that you regularly run live updates on the internet to make sure that your version of windows and your anti-virus software is also up-to-date.

Name your wireless

Giving your wireless signal a name, or a service set identifier (SSID), is an easy way of identifying it and can be set at the time of installation. Doing this will also allow you to enhance your security settings using wireless isolation.

Wireless isolation

This is a way of hiding your wireless network so that other people cannot “see you”, making your network more private. Once you have set your SSID then you can change the settings on your router to isolate your wireless, making you “invisible”.

Access lists

Access lists give an added level of security to your network. As well as having to have the password for your network, any userÂ’s computers would also have to be on the access list. They would be identified by the computerÂ’s MAC code (like a fixed address) via the router.

Now that you have set your security, you can rest assured that no one else is using your broadband or hacking into your files.

It also pays for damages suffered as a result of a hit and run.

6. Collision Coverage: This particular coverage pays for the damage suffered by your car due to a collision with another car or stationary object. It also compensates for damages caused due to flipping over and potholes. This coverage will pay the cost to repair your car (minus the any deductible), even if you are at fault for causing the accident. If the accident is not due to your fault, your insurance provider may try to recover the amount paid to you by the insurance company of the other person who is at fault. If it succeeds in doing so, your deductible may also be returned.

If you are paying a car loan, it becomes mandatory to purchase collision coverage along with the comprehensive one. This helps car dealerships and lien holders, because if your vehicle is totaled during an accident, the car loan may be paid off using the insurance money.
