What is the best way to preserve a Rare NES game?

I got my hands on a copy of Caltron 6 in 1, and I want to preserve it as best I can. Any tips for keeping it in good condition?

Put a plastic bag around the game or box. Now put the game in a place where no one can touch it let's say the back of a closet. Hope this helps.

Some people want to shoot for something that's a bit more fun than the regular circulated coin collection. This is where finding rare coins comes into play. Since rare coins, well, are so rare, coin collecting takes on a new degree of interest and excitement. However, finding these rarer coins gets increasingly more difficult depending on the coin that you're after. These are just some simple ways to find rare coins without having to travel around the world to track one down.

A great way to find rare coins is to take advantage of the fact that owner's probably don't know how rare they are. Try some local flea markets. Chances are that the owners know that there's something special about these coins that might be able to rake in a few more cents than face value, but don't quite know that it might mean much more than that. These are very easy buys. Likewise, you can hit local shops that happen to purchase coins. Some antique and pawn shops will buy these guys, but it's not guaranteed. Check with your local businesses. Of course, if you're at an antique shop, they mostly deal with furniture and adornments, so more easy buys for you.

Ebay: the same concept, but online. With so many listings, there's bound to be a few sellers who also don't quite know how much their coins are worth. They will often put whole collections up (similar to selling stamp collections) for very low prices. Most of the time, the sellers will have already taken out the rarest ones, but from time to time they will be left in. This is where you take them for yourself. Ebay also happens to be a place where people try to sell fakes, so please be careful while browsing and never assume anything.

The third and most obvious way is to check every single darn coin that you come across. Memorize a few marks that make a coin rare, and check for them every time you get some change. Most of the time, you're not going to get anything interesting. However, if you happen to be missing a few years here and there, you're going to fill in those gaps very quickly. It takes just a few minutes a day, and you're never going to have to examine more than ten to fifteen coins at once. You'll be surprised.

Rare coins are everywhere. Don't expect to find a coin worth $7 million any time soon, but you can be sure that whatever coins you're missing in your collection can indeed be found using the three places above. Just keep plowing through the many coins that you see in your life. You're bound to hit one that you need.

Handheld gaming consoles are no longer for the 14 & under demographic. Sony has revolutionized that way that we think of video game consoles with the introduction of PSP 3000, the latest release of one the most popular handheld gaming consoles on the market today.

Design

When you think of handheld gaming consoles the image that may immediately come to mind is one of a teenager, who although should be doing his home, has his eyes glued to the screen yelling at his player who is losing the race. Surely this would steer you away from purchasing this device, especially if you hope to hang on to your adult persona, however, Sony's newest release of the PSP has won over even some of the most uptight adults.

The newest release, PSP 3000, boasts a sleek, black and chrome appearance that almost resembles a miniature DVD player rather than a high-tech, all-in-one gaming console. PSP 3000 is a savvy combination of technology that meets high-tech design. Gone are the flashy colored buttons and lines that reek of "childhood," and in its place are a new set of black on black buttons which might even confuse even the most avid gamer.

Bigger is always better, and when it comes to the Sony PSP 3000, expect no less. PSP 3000's screen is now capable of displaying 16 million colors at a 480X272 pixel resolution. On a screen that weighs in at 16:9 wide, that's quite an accomplishment, especially if you desire a high resolution device that is compact in size.

Functionality

So why are so many adults purchasing a PSP 3000 for themselves as well as the kids? Simply put, PSP 3000 is more than a gaming console. With the ability to stream video, access the Internet, playback music and videos, and store images, amongst a host of other features, PSP 3000 shows adults that it is a force to be reckoned with.

Siege of Avalon was released for the PC in 1998, which was a bad year to come out because if anyone can remember, that was when Baldur's Gate was taking the RPG genre by storm and D&D fans were going crazy. It didn't help that Siege of Avalon has many similarities with Baldur's Gate, with a medieval theme, 2D isometric view, and the inclusion of NPC party members; so people probably thought it was just another clone. Unfortunately for the people who passed this game up, Siege of Avalon is a completely unique role-playing experience that any fan of the genre can enjoy.

The game takes place in the fortress of Avalon and the lands surrounding it. Avalon is the last stronghold standing against a hoard of Sha'ahoul forces led by an evil warlord called Mithra. You enter the story as a commoner arriving by ship to Avalon to give your brother news of your family and help in the fight against the Sha'ahoul. The game is divided up into 6 chapters that revolve around the completion of a specific main quest; the character is allowed to explore once prohibited areas and gain access to better weapons and armor as the chapters progress.

Siege of Avalon is everything that modern day RPGs are not, and that's what makes this game great. It is medieval grit at its best and doesn't sugar coat that time period like games do now. Avalon is besieged by forces that are trying every method to infiltrate the fortress, and the game does a great job of portraying how soldiers and commoners stuck in the castle would feel at the time: bored, hungry, anxious, scared, and some even contemplating betrayal to end the war early.

One of my favorite aspects of the game is the inventory system. The player is given limited space in their backpack to sort and organize loot to maximize how much they can carry back to sell at the market. It's really fun to going into the occupied village outside Avalon, kill a bunch of enemy warriors and carry their armor and weapons back to the market, making enough gold to get a new cuirass or hauberk.

One interesting feature in Siege of Avalon that I rarely see in games is that armor can be equipped and layered on your avatar. For example, you can buy chainmail, which would go on the first layer, then you could get a hauberk, which would go on top of the chainmail, then you could equip a cuirass, which would cover some of the hauberk, and to top it all off you can equip a cloak on the outer layer of your character. So not only are you increasing defense with each layer, but it is reflected on your character and I am all for having armor and weapons show up on the avatar. The items in the game stay somewhat true to the medieval time period; discrepancies in armor defense and bonuses are based on the quality and materials of the item, you won't see any longswords+1 or Morningstar of the Giant's Fury that adds +5 strength, for example.

Being that the game was made in 1998, the graphics aren't something to rave about, but they get the job done. Small details like the suits of armor that stand by gate entrances, coat of arms that adorn the wall signifying royal families, or the bread and vegetables spread across the mess hall kitchen give the player a fairly immersive RPG experience given the age of the game. And while the sound quality is similar to that of a free ringtone, the music itself is fairly pleasant in the background and also enhances that medieval theme. The only glaring flaw in the game is the terrible level of AI. Your NPC team members shouldn't be relied on in the clutch; sometimes they may stand there without attack, or simply run away from the battle. There have been more than a few times when right after defeating the last enemy from a horde of Sha'ahoul, my character was killed by a stray lightning bolt let loose by my mage; I wish there was a way to turn friendly fire off.

Bottom line: This game is not to be missed, but given that it's over a decade old, it won't be that easy to find, last time I checked the official website doesn't even exist anymore, but that never deterred anyone who really wanted a game worth playing.
